Lessons from the Life of Charlie Kirk

I didn’t know Charlie Kirk personally. I’d only heard about a young man who traveled to college campuses, sharing the Gospel and standing against the world’s lies. I caught glimpses of him speaking truth where deception had been embraced.

But until a couple of weeks ago—when he was murdered at one of his events—I didn’t fully understand what drove his passion and purpose.

A Life That Stirred a Nation

Following his death, I saw an outpouring of grief and admiration unlike anything I’d witnessed before. Social media was filled with Bible verses, tributes, and reflections about his life.

Who was this man I had barely heard of?

God answered my question unexpectedly. While browsing YouTube for a music video, I stumbled across recordings of Charlie’s memorial service. I clicked, and suddenly I was part of something greater: thousands of voices united in worship.

In a dry season of my own faith, those videos brought renewal to my spirit.

A Wife’s Testimony of Faith

Among the worship, one video stood out—Erika Kirk’s memorial speech.

It lasted thirty minutes, but I couldn’t stop watching. Her words carried:

  • Strength in the middle of grief

  • Hope anchored in Christ

  • Love that transcended loss

  • Empathy for others

  • Conviction for believers listening

Her testimony pushed me to ask myself hard questions about my walk with God.

Questions I Couldn’t Ignore

  • Am I bold in sharing my faith, or am I too worried about people’s opinions?

  • Do I ignore God’s call in favor of comfort?

  • Would I truly lay down my life for Christ?

  • Am I too comfortable in my faith?

  • Could I forgive as freely as Erika forgave the man who killed her husband?

The Power of Forgiveness

When Erika quoted Jesus—

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34 NKJV)—I was gutted.

I realized I had been holding onto bitterness, even when I thought I’d moved on. Her words revealed my need to forgive.

If she could forgive the man who took her husband’s life, how could I withhold forgiveness from anyone?

In that moment, I felt small—but also hopeful. God reminded me: It’s not too late to forgive.

A Lasting Legacy of Bold Faith

Though I never knew him, the lessons from the life of Charlie Kirk now shape my faith.

I’ve heard many times that the Christian life is not easy. Maybe I’ve avoided trials by choosing safety over obedience. But Erika’s words rang clear:

  • If we say to God, “Here am I, send me,” He will take us at our word.

  • Living boldly for Christ may cost us everything—including our lives.

  • Eternal reward outweighs earthly sacrifice.

She even described how Charlie’s face held a faint smile in death—that he went from doing what he loved to being home with the Lord in the blink of an eye.

My Prayer Moving Forward

Charlie Kirk’s legacy is now a call to action for me.

I pray for the courage to not only say, “Here am I, send me,” but to truly go when God calls.

Thank you, Charlie.

I hope you’re dancing with Jesus now.
